If you believe anyone outside of you can limit your freedom, think again.

When I was young, I rebelled at the slightest sign that someone was trying to tell me what to do.

Something as simple as giving me direction about how to make a cup of coffee I took as a personal affront to my freedom and self-expression.

Or so I thought at the time.

DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO was my ongoing battle cry.

I thought if no one told me what to do, then I was free to be myself. I thought this for a very long time. Then I realized who I was actually fighting.

This was an internal battle.

Freedom doesn’t come from fighting against something “out there”.

Freedom comes from living in integrity with the centeredness, peace, and confidence we can only feel by knowing the true essence of who we are. I no longer need to rebel against authority, because the only true authority lies deep within my soul.

Have you found that place of truth and freedom within you yet?
